On Nov.13th, 2015, the 6th Institute of Political Science (IPS) Seminar on International Studies was held in Model UN Conference Room(the fourth floor of old library) co-sponsored by The Communist Youth League Sub Committee of IPS of CCNU and Guizishan Association for International Studies. The two speakers of this seminar were Ephraim Abele Kayembe, studying for a doctor’s degree in IPS of CCNU now and Ouadie Adimi, studying for Political Science doctor’s degree in IPS of CCNU. Many international students and the teachers from IPS attended this conference.

At 3pm, the seminar began. The host gave a brief introduction of the two speakers and the procedure of this conference. The first speaker, Ephraim Abele Kayembe took Malawi as an example to analyze the gaps in the Sino-SADC relations. He first introduced some infrastructure projects with Chinese companies and showed some data and graphs about Malawi-China Trade. Prof. Ephraim pointed out that the trade imbalance between China and Malawi was due to low levels of technological advancement amongst local Malawian manufacturing companies as well as the inadequate technological and skills transfer. At last, he made some policy recommendations about the shortfalls in the economic relations between Malawi and China.

The second speaker Ouadie Adimi first introduced his professional work experience to all the audience. He popped a question about the purpose as international relations people and analyzed his topic about the challenges and opportunities for Chinese Multinational Companies along the One Belt One Road Initiative. He put great emphasis on the development of economy. In his conclusion, Prof. Adimi made three suggestions for Chinese Multinational Companies. He prospected the win-win situation and west east equality in future.

During Tea break, students were very active. They communicated with each other about some hot issues mentioned at the meeting. An international student said that the points put forward by the speakers were either economy-oriented or political-oriented, which was very professional.
In answer-and-question, students posted a lot of questions like Chinese culture transfer, the benefit of Africa and so on. Two speakers replied to them patiently.

IPS Associate Professor Zhao Changfeng expressed thanks to the two professors and required the audience to put forward more challenging questions. He also hoped that more Chinese students should attend the meeting to share their views in terms of China.“This is a really great chance for all students to learn something. And next time, we will focus on only one issue.” He said.

At the end of the seminar, teachers from IPS sent gifts to the two speakers. All teachers and students attended the conference took a group photo with them.
